Areas of Liljeholmen
Liljeholmen runs from the quay on Årstaviken to the hill above the metro: Liljeholmskajen and Årstadal around Sjövikstorget, Marievik on the peninsula north of the square, Liljeholmstorget with the shopping centre and the bus terminal across Södertäljevägen, Lövholmen along Trekanten and Nybohov on the heights.

Liljeholmskajen
Liljeholmskajen is the quay on Årstaviken and the blocks around Sjövikstorget: the restaurants, the beer hall, the grocery store and the bakery on the square, the grill, the burgers and the Lebanese restaurant along Sjövikskajen, the rooftop bar in Kajplats 6 and the salons on the first blocks of Sjöviksvägen.
Årstadal
Årstadal is the new blocks behind the quay, from Sjöviksvägen up towards Sjöviksskolan and Årstaberg: the ice-cream bar, the Indian kitchen, the gym, the Italian and the poké along Sjöviksvägen, the neighbourhood restaurant on Sjöviksbacken, the sushi on Fredsborgsgatan, the clinics and the padel hall.
Marievik
Marievik is the office peninsula north of Sjövikstorget being converted into housing from 2027: today the lunch places, the café, the gyms, the hairdresser and the health centre in the office buildings along Årstaängsvägen, the summer container park by the quay and the quay bath.
Liljeholmstorget
Liljeholmstorget is the hub with the metro, the bus terminal and Citycon's shopping centre over the tracks: some ninety shops, restaurants, pharmacies and clinics on three floors, Vårdhuset with the health centres, and the boules bar, the café and the restaurants on Liljeholmsvägen and Liljeholmsgränd.
Lövholmen
Lövholmen is the old industrial shore along Trekanten west of Liljeholmstorget: Färgfabriken's art hall on Lövholmsbrinken, the lunch restaurants on Lövholmsvägen and the office buildings by Trekantsparken – and the district of 1,800 homes planned here after 2030.
Nybohov
Nybohov is the hill above the metro, reached by the Nybohov lift from the station or up Nybohovsbacken: the hotel and the function venue at Nybohovsbacken 50, the massage clinic, the school and the 1960s blocks.
What is Marievik?
Marievik is the headland between Liljeholmsbron and Årstadal: Årstaviken to the north and east, Södertäljevägen to the west. An informal area name inside the Liljeholmen district, used since the 1930s as a Swedish spelling of Maryvik, one of four farms here.
The railway made the place. When the western main line opened in the 1860s, Liljeholmen station and the state railway workshops stood here; the tracks moved to Årstabron in 1929. The steel wholesaler Söderberg & Haak took over from the late 1920s, trading as Tibnor until the late 1980s. The Marievik 15 offices by the bridge went up in 1980–1982.
That office area is now being rebuilt. The detailed plan gained legal force on 3 April 2023: around 960 homes, 27,000 square metres of offices and other premises, and preschools, built by AMF Fastigheter, JM and Klövern. Marieviksbadet opened in June 2025; the park opposite follows in summer 2026.

Are Liljeholmskajen and Årstadal the same place?
Nearly, but not quite. Årstadal is an area within the Liljeholmen district, not a district of its own, and the name is old: in 1878 plots here were advertised as a "new suburb of Stockholm at Liljeholmen", and with Sundbyberg it is called Stockholm's first suburb. That housing was cleared in the 1950s and 60s for industry; the Vin & Sprit factory at Sjövik followed in the early 1970s.
Liljeholmskajen is the developer JM's name for the project that has, since the turn of 1999/2000, replaced the industry and the harbour, Årstadalshamnen, with waterfront housing between Liljeholmsbron and Årstabron, across parts of both Årstadal and Årstaberg. Demolition of the Vin & Sprit main building began in 2008; the quay towers Kajen 4, Kajen 5, Kajplats 6, K7 and Brohuset came after.
So Årstadal is the place, Liljeholmskajen the project that rebuilt it. In everyday speech they now mean much the same.
